You know what I wasn’t down with since day one?
THE BREAK UP
That’s my biggest issue, too. Have it mean something. I cannot take more sad!Blaine, and if they just drop it I’ll be super unimpressed, too. It’s not just something that can be done away with given how adamant Blaine was about proposing.
Yeah. This is definitely not something they can hide under the bed and pretend never happened. They made a pretty big deal with this story in the press. It was the cliffhanger ffs….
SOMETHINGneeds to come from it if they don’t actually get engaged yet
Preferably a reunion…
…though honestly, while i don’t necessarily want sad!Blaine or sad!Kurt anymore, if it moves their story forward, I’ll take it…
Seriously though… if Blaine proposes and Kurt says no or if Blaine doesn’t actually go through with it…
….I hope the engagement story doesn’t end up being entirely pointless. I hope the writers intend to use it for something…like…
Just don’t….make it pointless. Don’t make it be a way to draw fans back in for the premiere and then have it never mentioned again. Especially not after the press that story was given…
Use it as a way to drive the Klaine story forward PLEASE
I mean, are the writers doing this for the sake of the characters, to further their arc, develop their characters, etc. or are they doing it so they can say ‘hey look how current and topical we are?’ I’m going to assume that that is part of Chris and Darren’s concerns as well.
Also….while I’m at it…
Darren Criss introducing his show. Paris, Le Nouveau Casino, 17-06-2013.
“It’s really fucking hot in here”
Chris and I have not been down with it from day one. There’s a difference between shooting for marriage equality and having teenagers get married.
Darren Criss on the klaine engagement storyline (x)
(Eep - super unpopular opinion based on the reaction of my dash, butttt an engagement does not equal a wedding… and I do eventually want a Klaine wedding, dammit. I don’t care if it’s realistic or not. I mean, Brittany is going to MIT. MIT, people.)

Yeah… I personally wouldn’t have a problem with them having a long-term engagement because yeah… engagement doesn’t mean they have to get married in the next episode. It could last a season or so.
BUT…. I do think Blaine is sort of doing it for the wrong reason at the moment… He’s terrified of losing Kurt and thinks he needs to do something HUGE to get him back (and the fact that he’s got marriage on the brain due to the political atmosphere at the moment probably influenced what he decided he needs to do).
If anything, if they don’t actually have them getting engaged right away but Blaine does indeed propose in the premiere or whatever, then the writers should use it as a catalyst to jump start their REUNION… use it as a way to have them talk about their feelings or whatever…
Just… I don’t want them to make it entirely pointless.
It’s like the writers are using it as a way to avoid dealing with what they need to do…have Kurt and Blaine actually talk about their problems and fix them…
But I do suspect that the end goal, though, is for them to get married by the series finale, regardless of how old they are….
